Respect the indie store.

We'd like to think that we take good care of you. We remember names (some of them, anyway...but really, we try), we special order, we care about what you want. You can't get that kind of service at the big box retailers, and we hope you come back because of this. Reading this story made us a little sad, but also a little happy because we truly feel like we're doing everything we can every day to be YOUR store. Check it out:

Minding the Store: Is there a future for music retail?

Please, let us know if there's anything more we can do to make Decatur CD your music destination. We plan to be in this for the long haul, for better or for worse. And thanks, as usual, for your business...

Kurt Vonnegut - RIP

We lost a good one. Now, remember him fondly via this hilarious and fascinating interview from Playboy in 1992. Vonnegut and Joseph Heller talk about war, writing blurbs, sex and much more. Great stuff:

Modern Skirts photos

The Modern Skirts played in the store today, and they were fantastic. They stripped back and played an acoustic set, and the songs translated really well. Those boys have a gift for vocal melodies, and we love it. If you haven't listened to this excellent Athens pop band, check out the MySpace page (linked above, natch), or stop by the store and spend a few moments on our local band listening station, which has the sole album by the group.

Also, just in case you're not on our hallowed email list, we're having a 20% off EVERYTHING sale in honor of the in-store performance. That's right, you have two and a half hours to get in here and claim your cheap music. This is our first-ever one day sale, and it's been going quite well so far, but it will end soon. Make with the quickness!

For now, though, enjoy these photos...

Decatur CD <3's David Lynch.

Although we're normally babbling on about music around these parts, we all know that films rule too. Specifically when they're made by that brilliant, bizarre madman David Lynch. Just today, we came across this awesome clip, and decided it would be just rude of us to not share it with you all. Now, there is some language here, so if you're offended by that sort of thing or are at work or a place where you can't play sound on your computer, you might want to avoid this clip. For the rest of you, enjoy! Lynch is truly an independent voice in a world too oftentimes filled with mainstream schlock:
