For the Love of Wilco!

It has come to our attention that the Wilco shows this Wednesday and Thursday at the Cobb Energy Center have yet to sell out. As our regular customers are aware, we at Decatur CD believe Wilco puts on one of the greatest live shows in the world. In fact, there's a section of the latest Merriam-Webster Dictionary dedicated entirely to gushing adjectives Warren has used to describe Nels Cline on guitar. Are we really going to let Nashville sell out two shows while we can't sell out even one? Come on, Atlanta! Get your Wilco tickets now!

We'll have photos up from the Doria Roberts in-store soon, but in the meantime, we wanted to let you know that we now have her Blackeyed Susan box for sale in the store. For $40, you get a gorgeous, handcrafted box, the CD itself, a picture of Doria and Odetta (with Doria's words about Odetta on the back), some beautifully designed seed paper for planting, some black tea, jewelry from Smart Glass (a $70 value!), a coupon to Urban Cannibals and more. Truly, it's a fantastic deal.

Doria Roberts In-Store: TONIGHT!

Don't forget, folks: We've got the one and only Doria Roberts here tonight. It's the CD-release party for her gorgeous box set (pictured above), Blackeyed Susan. More details below from the most-recent DCD newsletter:

Doria has offered up some sweet incentives to make this event even more fun. For starters, she's putting golden-ticket styled prizes in random box sets that she'll be selling here that night. Anyone who purchases one has a chance at music-related prizes such as tickets to see Ben Harper at the Tabernacle, Blind Boys of Alabama at Agnes Scott and the show of your choosing at Eddie's Attic. Meanwhile, every single box will have a $5 gift certificate for Doria's store in East Atlanta, Urban Cannibals. Frankly, we're pretty floored by the awesomeness of this. It's just one of the many reasons you should vote with your dollar and shop local.

See you at 7:30pm, folks!

Doria Roberts CD Release Party

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m., the one and only Doria Roberts will pay us another visit for the official Blackeyed Susan CD release party. She's got a Facebook event page set up for the evening, which promises "food, wine, music and giveaways," which are four things we are totally all about. Something else we're totally all about? Finely crafted, locally made box sets, which is exactly what she'll be bringing to this in-store and selling directly to y'all in the form of Blackeyed Susan. We're looking forward to it.

Exclusive Colin Meloy Photos!

Last night, Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy and his wife, Carson Ellis, delivered the Decatur Book Festival keynote address to a packed Presser Hall at Agnes Scott. We couldn't make it (we have a store to run, people, give us a break), but we're told it was most excellent. And anyway, we weren't worried about missing Mr. Meloy, as he had promised us an EXCLUSIVE photo shoot early this morning. An EXCLUSIVE photo shoot that has now been shot, resulting in the EXCLUSIVE photos below.

Meloy is a good sport, so when we told him it was Dragon*Con weekend, he agreed that it only made sense to dress the part. All of these EXCLUSIVE photos were taken in the middle of Ponce de Leon Ave. right in front of the store earlier this morning, just moments before Meloy and Ellis hopped on a plane and headed west for Bumbershoot. We blocked off the street from Taqueria del Sol (sorry, guys!) to Jimmy John's (ditto, guys!), and a small crowd of several thousand people gathered around to watch. Please enjoy...
